Join Megan Elliott (she/her), founder of Clay Wild, for a queer pottery painting workshop at The Queery! This is for anyone who has come to one of my workshops and would like some advice, materials & company to paint their pots. You're also welcome to come along if you haven't yet been to one of my classes but have your own air-drying clay creation that you've made and would like to paint with us, or you can bring along a ready-made, unglazed terracotta plant pot to paint instead.
Date: Wednesday 22nd February 2023, 7-9pm
Location: The Queery, 46-47 George St, BN2 1RJ, Brighton, UK.
The Queery is a wheelchair-accessible sober space that’s home to a radical and queer bookstore, a small library, and a small vegan café. For more information, visit their website here. Please note: Whilst the space is fully accessible, parking on the road is pay & display (until 8pm) and there are limited spaces.
There will be chair seating and background music playing during the workshop.
Price: Tiered ticket pricing. £17.50 general admission. There are a limited number of tickets available at £15.00 and £10.00 for those with low-income. Please only reserve one of these spots if you feel this applies to you. No proof required. If the spots are sold out and you would like to attend but are unable to afford a ticket, please contact me directly. There is an option to add a pay-it-forward donation to contribute towards the cost of these spots and to enable me to offer more low-income spots in the future.
What is included?
- Expert tips, patterns & inspiration sheets
- Paper to practice on & sketch ideas
- Primer, paints, paint-pens & acrylic varnish
- Brushes & sponges
- Vegan snacks
In the workshop, I'll teach you all you need to know to paint & seal your clay creation safely and professionally. We'll go through ideas and painting techniques, with a chance to practice on paper first before painting directly onto your clay creation. I'll also be providing some vegan snacks, including a gluten-free option.
No painting experience necessary - suitable for all levels! This is a class prioritising queer joy and creativity in a safe, sober space.
Please bring a container/bag to carry your painted pot home in :)
