Welcoming all hebrews, shebrews and theybrews, goys and gals. (All welcome)
Homos and Houmous is a queer, Jewish performance night which is returning for its long-awaited fourth instalment. Since the theatrical Purim spectacular of our collab with Jewdas, we've been growing beautifully monstrous.
So bring your gay cousin, your nan and your rabbi down to Redon, a beatiful queer-friendly performance space in Bethnal Green for a night of music, drag, cabaret, poetry.
Most aspects of life require the closeting of one or both of these aspects of our identity. We’re often torn between these two separate cultures. So join us for an evening of performance, exploring what queer Jews have to offer.
HOST - Chanukah Lewinsky will be previewing excerpts from her upcoming solo theatre show "Chanukah Lewinsky: 120 Years From Grodno". https://www.facebook.com/events/1966964776928366/
With fabulous drag stylings of Julia Goldblum, Gomorrah.
We have open mic slots available so get in touch with your wonderful material.
Chanukah Lewinsky, jilted Jewess and schticky drag alter cocker (look it up) is travelling West from Grodno. She's stopping off along the way to have a nosh with you, and to complain about changes to the bus route. In other roles Dex Chait Grodner is a cabaret producer, theatre maker and marketeer (gobby Jew).
Rami Yasir is a poet, comics maker and faggot based near London. They run workshops on comics and poetry for all ages, perform poetry at various queer nights around London and have recently started posting their comics online. They're very good at all that stuff. You should book them.
More to come so keep your eyes peeled.
Redon is close to Cambridge Heath Station and 10 minutes walk from Bethnal Green Station. The venue space is all one level including entrance, wide hallway to toilets and large toilet cubicle. Stage is raised and accessibly only by steep steps but venue is large enough to host performances on ground level if requested.
Entrance fees are flexible. No one turned away for lack of funds.
Equally, as a community event, please opt for a "well-waged" ticket cost if you can, to help subsidise and maintain fair access to arts programming.
Please contact us with any concerns.
