Naked Boys Reading invites you to an evening investigating femininity, exploring identity and redefining ‘realness.’ We are delighted to welcome the outstanding Rhyannon Styles as curator!
Rhyannon delves into the genre of memoir and magazines, to explore and investigate the construction of her own womanhood. Her idols Janet Mock, Grace Dent and Viv Albertine lead a small selection of texts that resonate with Rhyannon.
ABOUT THE CURATOR:
Journalist and author Rhyannon Styles is best known for her popular column in ELLE, ‘The New Girl’, where she documents her transition from male to female. She recently authored a memoir, The New Girl: A Trans Girl Tells It Like It Is, for Headline which was released in January 2018. As a performance artist, career highlights include shows at the Guggenheim Museum in New York, Barbican in London and performing with Kylie Minogue on ITV.
Rhyannon recorded makeup tutorials for The Body Shop’s recent campaign ‘Stand Up Stand Out’ and she regularly contributes words to i-D, ELLE and Sunday Times Style magazines. The Independent on Sunday’s Rainbow list singled her out as ‘One to Watch’.
