JOINERS ANGELS:
Angels help to maintain the safer space policy (see below), they are party-goers who act as big siblings to other guests making sure you feel safe and comfortable. Joiners Angels will be wearing halos, so they'll be easily recognisable if you need a helping hand, a hug, a chat or have an incident that needs to be dealt with.
Qualified mental health first aider from the campaign will be in attendance. If you have any mental health concerns please speak to an Angel to be directed towards them.
*** Read and respect the SAFER SPACE policy before attending:
The safer space policy is about creating an open and welcoming environment so that everyone in the LGBTQIA+ community and allies feel able and comfortable to participate in FOTJA activities. In order to help us do this, we have some guidelines:
- Zero tolerance to racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, xenophobia, ableism, ageism, fatphobia, body shaming or slut shaming.
- Zero tolerance to prejudice based on class, faith/religion, language ability, gender presentation, physical ability, learning difficulty or mental health.
- Zero tolerance to harassment of any kind, including and not limited to; non-consensual touching, following, leering/ogling, and persisting in a conversation or making non-verbal gestures when the other person has expressed that they don’t want to speak to you.
- Respect other people’s personal space, do not touch anyone unless you have express consent to do so.
- Do not assume anyone’s gender, if in doubt ask or use gender-neutral pronouns until specified otherwise.
Friends of the Joiners Arms understand that this policy is and should be dynamic and change as we learn and grow together.
Friends of the Joiners Arms also understand that we all make mistakes. If your behaviour is addressed by another guest or member of staff, please do not become defensive, instead, take the opportunity to reflect and learn***
