Whatever Happened to Queer Happiness? Book Launch with Kevin Brazil
Please join us at The Common Press on Wednesday 12th October for the launch of Kevin Brazil’s Whatever Happened to Queer Happiness, an essay collection which travels everywhere: from Derek Jarman’s garden and the planets of lesbian science fiction, to the to the dance floors of Chicago and Berlin, to explore the possibilities of queer happiness past and present. Kevin Brazil is a writer and critic who currently lives in Berlin. He grew up in County Wexford, Ireland, and studied English at Trinity College, Dublin, and Oxford. His essays and criticism have appeared in Granta, Frieze, The White Review, the London Review of Books, the Times Literary Supplement, Art Review, art-agenda, Studio International, and elsewhere. The event will feature a short reading and Q&A, followed by drinks at the Common Counter Bar. Tickets are available on a pay-what-you-want basis, with a suggested donation of £5; there are also free tickets for people for whom an entry price may be a barrier. Ticket sales go towards the ongoing work of The Common Press at Glasshouse, an LGBTQIA+ multidisciplinary arts venue.
Guests are welcome to arrive at the bar from 6.30PM; the bookshop will open its doors from 7PM.
