Bohemian Nights presents a brand new evening of folk music and relaxed live performance … Chill the Folk Out.
Do you like folk music, but without the fuss? Watching live performance, singing along – playing, even! – without feeling like you’re in church? You want a respectful audience of queerdos, weirdos and creatives – but one that’s not afraid to clap back and get stuck in?
Then join us in the Upstairs Bar at Clerkenwell’s Apple Tree Pop-up for Chill the Folk Out – a night of music, performance, and participation. You’ll hear the best of London folk music and entertainment, and if you want to join in, too - perhaps with a song, a poem, comedy, or maybe even a rant about the world (who can blame you…) - drop us an email (early, to avoid disappointment - BohemianNights.ChillTheFolkOut@gmail.com) and we’ll try to squeeze you in between our featured artists.
They are –
Erin Mansfield – a London-based multi-instrumentalist, dancer and ceilidh caller, pioneering the tin whistle with innovative contemporary arrangements of old – and ancient – tunes. She’s a shining light in London’s folk session scene and a force for chaotic good you never knew you needed
A cheeky shapeshifter and the winner of London’s Not Another Drag Competition 2022, Bi-Curious George is a charming, concept-driven comedy king, bringing you the "deliciously unexpected" and the "delightfully idiotic". Expect a large, right-on shot of David Attenborough-inspired silliness.
Drawing on a folk canon of rakish werewolves, gender-fluid drummers, and inappropriately amorous kings – alongside sounds sampled from Soho to the RVT – Sam Browse’s new EP, Wanton Will, is his love letter to queer London. A – sort of? – newcomer to the capital’s music scene, we hope you enjoy him as much as we do.
Some notes on the venue -
- We regret that shows and private events that take place in the Upstairs Bar are unfortunately not accessible.
- There’s a sloped 10cm step to enter the building. We have a threshold ramp.
- We have an accessible toilet on the ground floor.
- The first floor Upstairs Bar is up 24 winding stairs with a handrail.
