Join We Create Space, as we welcome photographers Sophia Emmerich and Lisa Kempke to London for Queer Platonic, a traveling photo exhibition series exploring the beauty of queer friendships.
About the exhibition:
There's a reason that LGBTQIA+ people often speak of ”chosen family“ when it comes to their friends. Queer friendships are special. For the Queer Platonic project, Sophia Emmerich and Lisa Kempke photographed six groups of friends from the LGBTQIA+ community and asked them about the relationship they have with each other; celebrating and highlighting the importance of queer community, love and friendship. The exhibition was first showcased in Berlin and most recently showing in New York. We are proud to host the London edition.
About the event:
We'll be chatting to the photographers about the project and how it came to be. There'll also be live music, performers, drinks, ways to commemorate your queer friendships, and a DJ set from the Hungama collective. Bring your closest friends, your chosen family, and share with us - what makes your queer friendships so special!
There may be a managed queue to enter the space due to limited capacity in the venue but we will aim to keep circulation flowing so that everyone attending gets an opportunity to see the exhibition. Please bring umbrellas and warm clothing just in case.
