DIY clothes mending workshop with Queer Craft at Holdspace, Angel, Central London
• A few hours of mindful mending in a peaceful environment and a queer space. Using mending as a radical act of care that is both tender and practical, to both your wardrobe this Fashion Revolution week!
• Each mend adds a story, delays a garments journey to landfill, celebrates sustainability, and adds your unique creativity to your wardrobe.
• Please bring your well worn garments to dedicate time on. Examples of what the repairs could be: patching an elbow, shortening hems, darning a sleeve cuff, sewing on a button and beyond! We will tailor the session towards the garments brought, troubleshoot and teach the necessary skills for each mend.
• We will have access basic sewing equipment, and there will be one sewing machine available for use. Mend your clothes using a variety of techniques from hand sewing and machine sewing, felting, darning and patching. Learn to sew on a button, darn a hole or patch a tear!
• Beginner friendly, no sewing experience needed!
• If you need a paticular material/patch/yarn for your mending please bring with you. Otherwise, all equipment and materials provided, just remember to bring a few of your preloved garments to repair!
