WE CREATE SPACE host a community event during LGBTQ+ History Month in partnership with NAFS.SPACE, exploring life for Queer individuals from the ‘SWANA' region (South West Asian/North African), the region commonly referred to as the ‘Middle East’.
We'll start the event with a screening, playing a short edit from a new BBC documentary portraying the struggles being faced by some Queer individuals based in Egypt.
Then we'll host an informal conversation and panel discussion with four individuals who have now left the SWANA region but remain connected to it through their community work and activism.
This event is open to everyone, including allies, but will focus on providing a space for collective healing, understanding and solution-orientated intra-community support.
