Professional Shortform With Sam Roulston
Suitable for intermediate to advanced improvisers.
This workshop will teach you how to host, play and produce a professional-level shortform improv show.
We'll talk about building a balanced and hard-hitting running order, hosting technique and the art of getting the suggestion.
Sam will share his pro tips on how to command and also endear yourself to a rowdy audience.
We’ll examine the science behind setting up a shortform game successfully and hacks for playing that game to its full potential.
This workshop is perfect for improvisers who want to step up their shortform improv skills and will help you put on a polished and professional show.
About Sam
Sam Roulston is an award winning Comedian and Facilitator based in London.
He was a member of Faculty at The Second City, Toronto for 7 years before moving back to the UK in 2022. He taught in the Improv, Sketch Writing and Youth and Teen Programs and directed in the Conservatory Program. Sam was also the Program Head for the Kids and Teen Department for almost two years. He currently coaches improv troupes all around London and runs a monthly improv drop-in at the London LGBTQ+ Community Centre.
Sam has performed and taught at comedy festivals all over the world including: Edinburgh Fringe, Hell Yes Fest (New Orleans), Mama City Improv Festival (Capetown), The Del Close Marathon (NYC), Big City Improv Festival (Toronto), Improv Fest Ireland (Dublin) and The Detroit Improv Festival.
Right before the pandemic hit, he performed 5 improv shows a week to an audience of 900 very rowdy audience members aboard the MSC Seaside in the Caribbean. There is no better crash course in hosting and performing shortform improv and Sam is very excited to be sharing his tricks of the trade with you.
About The Venue
The workshop will take place in Studio 4 at Theatre Deli. Accessibility note: this studio is on the ground floor. The reception staff will take out an access ramp once you arrive.

There is 1 x 100% scholarship and 1 x 50% scholarship available for this workshop.
