Why is this event important?
Many schools don't have the funding for workshops like ours, but we believe every student should have access to inclusive spaces. By raising £50,000 we can support 50 schools for free - your support could help students stop the cycle of bullying. Your support could help students be proud of who they are. Most importantly, your support helps create a safer, more inclusive environment for the young people we work with. We know this event will be fun to attend, but it's aim is more than just fun - it's a better future.
All money from the ticket sales and on the night fundraising will be added to the #DRM50for50 campaign total found here https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/DRM50for50
Who are Diversity Role Models?
Volunteer led, funded by individuals and organisations, DRM actively seeks to embed inclusion and empathy in the next generation to bring an end to LGBTQ+ Bullying. Our vision is a world where everyone embraces diversity and can thrive. This will help create a world where future generations embrace, accept and support difference. Our mission is to create an education system in which every young person will know they are valued and supported, whoever they are.
What do we do?
We create safe spaces where young people can explore difference and consider their role in creating a world where we all feel accepted. Our student workshops feature LGBTQ+ or ally role models who speak openly about their lived experiences, building young people's empathy so they can understand the (often unintended) impact of their language and actions. In order to ensure sustained change we supplement this by training school governors, staff, and parents/carers.
