A conversation with authors and activists Sophie K Rosa and Dan Glass with the launch of their books
‘Radical Intimacy & Queer Footprints - A Guide to Uncovering London’s Fierce History.’ Facilitated by Ariel Collier
Radical Intimacy and Queer Footprints celebrate all those who transcend narrow understandings of family and love to create vital emotional support, practical life-support and welcome us into a new family of mutual aid. Both books platform a new social, political, sensual, economic and environmental vision for post-capitalism, feminism, individual and collective self-care, wellbeing, romance, sex, family, home, death, friendships and so much more! With the ongoing attacks on our Trans community - remembering the strength and vitality of our people and movements has never been more important.
The books include tributes to movements such as ‘AIDS Coalition to Unleash Power (ACT UP), ‘Gay News’ the first LGBTQIA+ publication since partial decriminalisation in 1967, first sold at Pride; the foundations of the Homosexual Law Reform Society (HLRS), OutRage! - the radical, non-violent, direct action LGBTQIA+ movement and The London Lesbian Avengers; iconic queer club nights such as Kinky Gerlinky; saunas and scandals; sex workers stories and movements; creative direct actions from The Gay Liberation Front; the birth of the modern Pride movement and All Night Gaiety at The Caravan Club.
Who are these people and movements and how can we learn from them today?
