Join us at 7pm on the 12th of May at The Common Press Bookshop to celebrate Plentiful, a Jamaican cookbook with a vegan twist by acclaimed British-Jamaican musician turned chef, Denai Moore! There'll be drinks, copies of the book, and a live conversation, as well as the opportunity to ask Denai about her cooking and influences.
Plentiful has already garnered praise from some of the biggest names in food writing. Rachel Ama, author of One Pot Three Ways, called it "an incredibly exciting, fresh modern twist on authentic flavours." Riaz Phillips, author of West Winds, said Denai "fantastically fuses her Jamaican heritage into a glorious array of inventive, novel ideas," while Liv Little, author of Rosewater and founder of gal-dem, found the book "delicious, fresh and full of heart."
This is a book you need in your kitchen - far from the stereotype of incredibly spicy and meat heavy dishes, it's a showcase of how vibrant, diverse, and exiting Jamaican food can be.
Denai's pop-up, Dee's Table, has received high praise from the Metro, Vice, Dojo, and was featured on Jamie Oliver's television series, Jamie's Meat-Free Meals. It was also nominated for the prestigious YBF awards. As a recipe developer, Denai has written for the Guardian and held cooking demonstrations for Time Out, and in 2020 collaborated with trusted Burger Joint ‘Honest Burger’, creating a Jamaican inspired vegan burger featuring her Apricot Scotch Bonnet Ketchup. Denai has written for Leon, Tesco and Tasty, amongst others.
We invite you to arrive at The Common Press Bookshop from 7pm on May 12th to celebrate with us. The site is wheelchair accessible, and there are accessible toilets available. Don't miss out on the chance to meet Denai in person and pick up a copy of this brilliant book!
