PRIDE IS A PROTEST. PRIDE IS BANNED.
Pride can be celebrated here and now.
Pride is banned in most parts of the world.
LGBTQIA+ self-expression is being restricted or banned every passing day.
Legislations… Don't say gay? Come on!
Last year, we organised an event called 'Banned Pride' and our aim was to raise awareness about almost a decade long ban on Pride Events in Turkey and gather support in solidarity with activist groups and NGOs working to make Pride happen despite it. LGBTQIA+ self-expression makes the difference between life and death. Pride is survival.
So this year, we want to repeat this call once again in Pride months. Pride should be unbanned everywhere. LGBTQIA+ self-expression should be unbanned everywhere. We will be loud, we will leave no one behind, we will be at the right side of history and perform in joy for as long as we can.
To share the excitement, we are collaborating with the one, the only, the fantastic Bitten Peach. They are a queer Pan-Asian cabaret collective dedicating to providing platforms for asian artists and diversifying asian representation. And also slaying! Deeva D, ShayShay, Jason Kwan, Kaajel Patel, Duane Nasis, Mahatma Khandi, Sarjana Singh and Dodo Potato will be joining our stage to perform a group number that will leave us wanting more!
Your hosts of the night, Cazeleon & Darlink Dick, pairing up for the first time as co-hosts to raise our voices even louder. Aphrodite, Hey Bora!, Jabbaristan, Laz Lightning, Mertder, Tahini Molasses and Toby Kind will be bringing the strength of a protest and the joy of solidarity. Activist, DJ and performer Q-Bra (a.k.a. Kubra Uzun) will be taking over the DJ booth together with the soft-fetish extraordinaire company Kutulu's first ever DJ set.
Now you know why you can't miss this.
“Harem of No One is a queer and feminist collective of performers of Turkish, Kurdish, Cypriot and Southwest-Asian heritages but absolutely anyone is welcome and encouraged to join in and have fun with us.”
