Queering the Past: Writing LGBTQ+ Historical Fiction

Join us on Tuesday 27th June for a panel examining radical and raucous approaches to queer historical fiction, with Nat Reeve, Neil Blackmore and Ally WIlkes. Hosted by Brooks Palmieri.

About the authors:

Nat Reeve (they/he) is an author and researcher, whose rambunctious debut novel Nettleblack, a queer Neo-Victorian adventure following a runaway heir/ess and a gang of crime-fighting misfits, was published by Cipher Press in 2022. They are currently working on the sequel for 2024.
Neil Blackmore (he/him) has been acclaimed for his radical reimagining of queer historical fiction. His third novel, 'The Intoxicating Mr Lavelle', was shortlisted for the Polari Prize for LGBTQ+ Fiction. His latest novel ‘Radical Love’ was described by The Times as cementing Neil ‘as one of the most original voices in historical fiction.’
Ally Wilkes (she/they) is the author of 'All the White Spaces', a vivid ghost story exploring identity, gender and selfhood, set against the backdrop of the golden age of polar exploration. Ally writes supernatural, cosmic, and weird horror. She's particularly fascinated by Polar stories and the exploration Gothic, despite suffering from seasickness and loathing the cold.

All our authors' books will be available to buy on the night! This event will take place in the Common Press bookshop and is wheelchair and step free accessible with access to a disabled toilet.
