For the penultimate film of Hot Summer Nights, we're thrilled to be showing a gem from one of the greatest living directors.
Steve McQueen's short feature Lovers Rock (2020) was the highlight of his anthology on Black British life, and we invite you to revisit what feels like the perfect piece of filmmaking for this season.
Lovers Rock takes place over one night and into the early morning, during and after a heaving house party where sweat literally drips off the walls.
McQueen lovingly and rapturously tracks all the action, from the unwanted advances of a troublemaker, to an especially memorable spontaneous group sing-a-long.
Cast includes Michael Ward (Top Boy), Kadeem Ramsay (Top Boy), Kedar Williams-Stirling (Sex Education) and more.
Find us downstairs at Dalston Superstore for a slice of heaven, and don't worry, we have air-conditioning.
I've been wanting you
For so long
It's a shame
Oh baby
