safe + sound is running a very special event on Monday 27th November! We're raising money to help one of our hosts - Jesse - pay for their gender affirming top surgery ✨
On 27.11.23 we'll be at The Jago in Dalston for a show of audio submissions and performances by trans makers, all on the theme of MAGIC.
There will be:
👢 Live Performances
🔥 Extremely stylish merch to buy
👀 A raffle with incredible prizes
💋 Lovely People
🍄 A chill out zone upstairs featuring a special sound booth from Camp Abolition
🍸 Drinks
🦀 Lots of audio old and new, long and short, funny and melancholy.
What is safe + sound? It's kind of like an open mic night for radio docs, podcasts, music + sound art. People send us audio before the show, then we host a live recording of our radio show with you, the audience. Recordings from the night will be broadcast on Resonance FM.
Submissions are open! For this show, we're looking to share work by trans* audio makers. If that's you, you can send literally any kind of pre-recorded audio as long as it's 6 minutes or under, and related to the theme of MAGIC. It can be a piece of music / an interview / an excerpt from a show / a bit of sound art. It can be a piece you made before, or something new you make specifically for us. You can be a seasoned radio maker, or this could be the first piece you've ever made.
If you're trans and have something you'd like to share that relates to our theme of MAGIC, hit us up: safesoundshow@gmail.com.
Doors at 19.00, show starts at 19.30
All profits from safe + sound go towards Jesse Lawson's gender affirming top surgery fundraiser. Donate here.

* by trans, we mean anyone who's gender doesn't match the one they were assigned at birth, including non-binary + genderfluid people etc. There'll be no questions asked about your gender if you submit, it's completely up to you how you identify and we will believe you.
Wheelchair access: The show will take place downstairs although the venue has two floors with a second bar upstairs. The space is entered from street level with a raised street-curb but no further entrance steps. There are ground-floor toilets but these are not necessarily wheelchair accessible - the Jago asks that you contact them on hello@thejagodalston.com or 0207 6830438 for accessibility assistance. Nearest accessible toilets are at Falkners Fish and Chips - 2 minutes from the Jago, closes 11pm.
