The launch night of what is hoped to be a regular comedy night in Saltash. Run by comedy fans. Our nights will be not for profit and if there are monies after paying for the acts, venue hire, and promotion they will go to a local charity. For this first night we will be supporting the Ashtorre Rock refurbishment of the ferry statue plaques fund.
We are Dave and Carole and have been to thousands of comedy nights.
Dave holds the Guinness World Record for seeing the most shows in one season of the Edinburgh Fringe (304 in 27 days in 2014), so we know a bit about the world of comedy and want this night to be a bit different, a friendly, safe place for people who also share our passion.
Our venue Isambard House is a refurbished community space on the platform of Saltash Railway station.
We have a capacity of 75 spaces.
There is no bar. You are welcome to bring your own drinks and snacks thus saving on the somewhat outlandish costs on nights out!
We are accessible with step free access so are suitable for wheelchair users.
There is lots of free parking near the venue.
Headliner: Laura Lexx
Comedian, author and actor Laura Lexx is vivacious, impassioned, intelligent and one of the best MCs/Headliners on the comedy scene. Born and bred in the home county of Somerset, Laura’s comfy demeanour, warmth and energy delightfully juxtapose her biting wit, sharp tongue and brutal audience take downs, which just can’t stop going viral.
Following her Live at The Apollo (BBC) debut Laura received an unprecedented reaction both from the live crowd and audiences at home, which lead to her appearing in shows such as Mock The Week (BBC), Hypothetical (Dave) and Celebrity Mastermind (BBC) to name a few.
Having reached the lofty heights at the top of the live comedy club circuit, headlining at clubs around the UK and Europe, Laura also boasts a series of highly-polished and critically acclaimed stand up shows on ITVX, is the published author of Klopp Actually and Pivot her debut novel, and is an in-demand writer on shows such as Have I got News For You (BBC), The Now Show (BBC R4) and The Really REALLY Rude Puppet Show (Dave).
Laura is the creator of multiple podcast formats, her current being Lexx Education where, taught by her scientist younger brother, Laura tries to get her head around the GCSE science syllabus with hilarious results!
Opening Act: Ben Treloar
Having just won Cornish Comedian of the Year 2023 and being shortlisted for the BBC New Comedy Awards, Ben is definitely one to watch. With fantastic self-deprecating punchlines and quick-witted banter, it’s easy to see why he’s getting booked across the country.
MC: Louise Leigh
Award-nominated Louise Leigh wanted to do comedy when she was sixteen, but it took her until her forties to get round to it. Now, she brings daftness, deftness and some brilliant physical comedy to top comedy clubs all over the country. You’ll never think the same way again about shaving your legs.
“Like the kind of Radio 2 DJ who’d be caught in the gossip columns… Brilliant.” The Wee Review (★★★★)
“Louise’s crazy hair-brained way of looking at life is uplifting and positive.” Funny Women (★★★★)
“Imaginative, brilliant” The Scotsman
