Join us in t'ARTopia for a queer-curated cabaret night of drag, music, poetry and more from some of our most delicious t'ARTs. We have invited some of our favourite performers to entertain you all, at a night that will be nothing short of t'ARTopian.
We will be raising money for gender affirming surgery funds with this evening's raffle, so come with a couple of quid, win art and raise money for good causes.
Let’s get mouthwatering!
Performers:
Amaroun - Music
Amaroun is a multi-dimensional artist and producer creating kaleidoscopic alternative r&b that transcends genre to tell the story of a life lived at the intersections of identity and culture exploring complex themes such as blackness, sexuality, queerness and freedom in all its forms. Her silk like voice has an ethereal yet soulful quality, as if whispered into your ear. Experiencing Amaroun live is to be part of her incredible journey from utter repression to joyful self expression.
Nicola Frew - Theatre
Nicola is an actress and writer with a passion for new storytelling. As an actress, Nicola’s credits include feature films I Am Woman (TIFF, 2020), and The Daughter (TIFF, 2015). Nicola has just wrapped shooting on a feature which will come out in 2024. As a writer, Nicola’s debut play, The Fridge, has been performed at The Vaults, and she’s excited to perform it again as part of t’ARTopia.
Luke May - Spoken Word
Luke has been bringing his sarcastic self to spoken word and open mic nights around London for the past two years. He was published in a book of children’s poetry in primary school. This was his crowning glory.
Rubie - Music
Rubie is a songstress, producer, multi-instrumentalist and unbridled trans voice from south London. Ranging from power ballads to art pop to folk rock, her writing presents a slippery manifesto for building defiant worlds in the face of trauma, oppression and apocalypse. Her new EP Whatever Cage is her most direct, and outward looking work yet, queering a sonic palette of alt pop, folk rock and electronic experiments to demand political change in the wake of the pandemic.
Jamie Heart - Comedy
Jamie Heart started making comedy in 2012 with the fast paced improv group The Rubiks and is a long standing member of Sprout (who have been performing since the '90s!). Jamie co-created 'Bonk!', a show about the science of sex, and 'Modern Horror Stories' - an anthology of spooky and hilarious sketches. Jamie recently stepped up to stand-up after completing a course with The Funny Side. As well as comedy, you can find Jamie performing burlesque, painting, writing poems, creating digital art and more!
King Papí Cox - Drag King
King Papí Cox is a new London-based Spanglish king-thief of your heart and the current NADC wildcard
Not to be confused with well-known Spanish vigilante: Zorro (who just has a better marketing team,) Papí is a lip syncing, whip-wielding, lyric-swapping, crooning King trying out new moves on stages (and ladies) around London since April 2023.
