Israel is escalating its deadly assault on the people of Gaza. We need to escalate our solidarity in response, and force the British state to end its backing for genocide.
Over 4000 civilians have been murdered in Gaza, and more than a quarter of the northern Gaza Strip has been levelled by bombing. Palestinians remain in desperate need of food, water and shelter. Yet Israel has made it clear that they intend to pursue a ground invasion.
Around 500 people were killed in just one incident, the attack on the Al-Ahli Arab hospital on Tuesday. The Israeli government tried to blame Palestinians for the blast, a ridiculous story that has been accepted by western leaders like Sunak and Biden, who have greeted the butcher Netanyahu with open arms.
Protests across the globe have forced our governments to backtrack on support for Israeli war crimes. Dozens of Labour councillors resigned from the party in protest at Keir Starmer’s crackdown on Palestine solidarity. Now they call for international law to be upheld. Yet Suella Braverman and many politicians want to criminalise support for Palestine, with some demanding our protests be banned.
Wherever we are, we can do something to support the Palestinian struggle.
Socialists, anti-imperialists and anti-racists in Britain are standing against these moves. Our ruling class is trying to turn public opinion against the Palestinian people. We have to fight back, and insist on the right of Palestinians to resist a brutal occupation. The violence of the oppressor cannot be equated with the violence of the oppressed.
Speakers include Anindya Bhattacharyya and others TBA.
