These classes focus on the technical elements from dance styles like ballet, jazz, contemporary and modern dance. You’ll learn how to spot, how to do great turns, how to get the best lines, how to move through your joints and multi directed combined movements.
Come learn and better your technique in a positive, supportive and low-key setting, surrounded by likeminded people. Apply these techniques for floorwork, smoothing over choreography, posturing, posing & more for your existing and future acts.
Week 1 – Multi Directed Movement
Learn to change how you think of the body while moving, taking a more holistic view of how we move. Work on how to have energy flowing up through the spine, through the head, then in the opposite direction downwards through the legs, and crossing over through the chest and into the arms.
Week 2 – Using our Multi Directed Movement to start Spotting
What is spotting and how can we use it?
Learn different types of turns, sharpening up movement and how to refine & control turns.
Week 3 – Using our Multi directed Movement and learning how to Kick & Lift our legs safely and jaw-droppingly impressively!
Using what you worked in Week 1 and 2, new exercises for Kicks & Lifts plus Roundes (lifts/kicks with turns!) and a combo at the end.
Week 4 – Move Through The Joints
How to make floorwork impressive: bigger and better movement – safely! Learn about softening the joints in order to move smoothly, both on and off the floor.
Week 5 – The Paths of The Arms
Focusing on how the arms connect to the rest of the body, and how from here, we can create a whole different expression of movement – rather than isolating our arms as limbs away from the whole body.
Week 6 – LETS DANCE!
Taking drills from week 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5, we’ll work on putting together the different elements to create an overall wide expression of movement.
Explore various styles with the techniques learned, doing combos that express differently to different music.
