Welcome to Sober QTs!
A peer support space for queer, trans, LGBT+ and questioning folks in sobriety & addiction recovery. Allies are also welcome as respectful guests.
We're a secular space, unaffiliated with any other programs and entirely volunteer operated. Some practises we engage with include mindfulness, radical vulnerability in sharing our stories & struggles, guided & freeform meditation, reflection prompts, and trauma recovery methods & resources. Suggestions and requests are also encouraged.
Regular meetings are held online. We also have a Discord server!
Meetings open with a reading of our community conduct agreement, a short meditation to bring us safely into a space of shared vulnerability, and a brief round of optional introductions. The bulk of most meetings is dedicated to sharing time; everyone may share and no one is required to, gentle timing prompts will be used to keep us on track. Meetings close with a short meditation to help process what we've shared together and prepare us for leaving the space, announcements, and the option to share contact details for supporting each other outside of meetings. There is also the option to stay a while after meetings for casual chitchat, facilitators will hold the space open for up to an extra half hour.
We ask that people try to arrive on time and stay for the whole meeting whenever possible, though if you will need to arrive late or leave early please know you're still welcome!
Accessibility is a priority; please contact us if you have questions or specific needs you'd like to discuss. All meetings have live captions enabled and important info will be shared in writing as well as spoken, written participation is welcome, and any visual resources will be described.
Feedback to improve the space is actively encouraged (and may be sent anonymously).
