🌞 Welcome to our first Solstice Share, a space to come together on the darkest day of the year to sing, share poetry and tell stories around a fire (made of candles - we'll be indoors!).
🔥 Inspired by the bardic tradition, everyone is welcome to share a song, poem, or folk tale. You can also suggest songs to sing together, or just sit and listen.
💖 Folk music is music of the people, and we'll take a broad interpretation of that - it could be a traditional Irish folk song, a sea shanty, yule song, 90s pop belter or your favourite Disney tune. If it means something to you and you want to share it and sing it in community with others, it is welcome. Songs that other people will know or you can teach them so we can sing together are especially welcome.
✨ There will be some (acoustic) instruments, and you are welcome to bring your own. Tea is included in the cost of admission, but if you have a favourite herbal tea or mug you're welcome to bring it. Same goes for blankets, cushions, snacks or even your dinner!
🎩 The Solstice Share is an ideal way to warm up for the wonderful Bower Street Morris ‘Weird Folk’ night, which takes place straight after, and you are invited to stay for.
Accessibility:
🌈 There will be padded seats available, or you are welcome to sit on the floor / stand / dance around. Stimming is welcome, and there are quiet spaces for anyone needing them. The space is wheelchair accessible, but there are unfortunately no accessible toilets (they have supports, but the doorways are narrow). If you have additional requirements, please message to let us know.
