Let the Divine Era begin! After the glorious farewell to the legend that is the Glory, we are now in Dalston canım! And we are beginning this era with one of our most loved themes: 90s Legends! But wait, there's more? We have very special guests for this one:
Yine Yeni Yeniden 90'lar (Again, Anew, Once Again the 90s) is an award-winning podcast analyzing 90s popular music and culture in Turkey and beyond from feminist and queer perspectives. Launched in 2019 by İlker Hepkaner and Sezgin İnceel, YYY90'lar broke ground in pushing against the collective nostalgia for Turkey's golden age of popular music and invited its audience to think about what it meant in the 90s and beyond for women and LGBTQI+ people to exist in a misogynist, homophobic, and transphobic media landscape. İlker is trained in cultural studies, and Sezgin in music education; thus both hosts bring their expertise in these areas to uncover the hidden gems of the period and provide a historical and aesthetic context to 90s popular music and culture in Turkey.
We are beyond exciting to be presenting this show for the third time together with this magnificent duo that we are fans of ! They will be taking over our dj booth and you might as well see Sezgin performing some of his favourite 90s hits with us. Needless to say, your favourite kings and queens of the Harem will be at the spotlight too: Darlink Dick, Tahini Molasses, Toby Kind, Beyond Oz, G Spot, Hayriye Holivud, Hey Bora! and Turkish D'light along with the presentation of our favourite ‘Abi’ Laz Lightning! All of this to cater for the most fun time travel experience you can find in East London.
