About Lady Phyll
Lady Phyll has dedicated her life to advocating for the rights and visibility of LGBTQI+ people, with a particular focus on the intersectionality of race and sexuality. As the co-founder and Chief Executive of UK Black Pride, she has played pivotal roles in various organizations, including serving as the former executive director of the Kaleidoscope Trust. Her impactful career spans the civil service, where she worked for the Department for Work and Pensions benefit fraud section, as well as her significant roles in trade unions, the LGBTQI+ community, and human rights charities. Lady Phyll's refusal of an MBE in 2016 and her commitment to activism on race, gender, and LGBTQI+ rights have solidified her status as one of Britain's leading lesbian activists. Her remarkable journey includes notable achievements, such as being appointed a Grand Marshal of New York Pride in 2019 and being recognized on the list of 100 Great Black Britons in 2020. Lady Phyll continues to inspire and advocate for a more inclusive and equal society.
About Moud Goba
Moud Goba, a formidable Zimbabwean LGBTIQ+ human rights activist, has emerged as a resilient force in the fight for equality and justice. Forced to flee her home country due to persecution for her sexual orientation during Robert Mugabe's regime, Goba sought refuge in the United Kingdom, where she has since become a beacon of hope. As a founding member of UK Black Pride and the current chair of their board of directors, Goba has played a pivotal role in shaping a vibrant space for the black LGBTQ+ community in London since 2005. In her role as National Director for Micro Rainbow International, she dedicates herself to supporting homeless LGBTIQ+ members seeking asylum. Moud's commitment and impact have garnered recognition, with accolades including being listed on Global Citizen's 2023 activists roster and receiving the BET International's Global Good Award in 2023.
