A Recipe for Making and Building a Brief with Bilansu
Sold Out
We are thrilled to have a legend in the making Bilansu—creative director, filmmaker and producer—to introduce our growing community to the joys of cooking up visual ideas to be supported by a wider network.
Starting with introductions to the group and Bilansu’s practice, we will foster new relationships and draw inspiration from Bilansu's beautiful work, including a special screening of their film ‘Three Years Old’.
Next, we will hone our storytelling skills by collaboratively developing the narrative chapters we want to explore. Utilising provided references, keywords, mood indicators, and more, participants will create blueprints for the worlds in which their subjects exist. These skills are invaluable for fulfilling creative briefs and pitching to organisations for potential funding.
Bilansu's artistic journey as a Visual Artist serves as an internal dialogue, traversing diverse mediums like photography, moving image, and installation. Within their artistic realm, self-portraiture & storytelling occupies a sacred space, consistently woven into their work. The allure of documenting the self has been a constant fascination, compelling Bilansu to turn the lens inward. In a world that may seem stagnant, they venture into the depths of introspection, unraveling ideologies that extend beyond the confines of the binary structures in which we exist.
Home Studio is a ubiquitous space dedicated to the empowerment, promotion and development of queer and trans artists of colour. We host workshops, CRIT's, making sessions, photo walks and other amazing events at least once a month. In its simplest form, we are a group of artists meeting and working together to accomplish our own personal and collective goals. Home Studio was founded and curated by Ariel Collier, artist and Programmes Assistant at Queercircle.
