Suburbia - a new show by Jonny Woo
Jonny Woo, co-owner of The Divine and all round East London cabaret and drag legend brings a new show of song, chat, anecdote, costume and flesh to the fabulous new performance space at Dalston's hot new LGBTQ+ venue, The Divine.
Featuring covers of songs by Pet Shop Boys, Rolling Stones, Atomic Kitten and more, Woo intersperses the musical numbers with tales from his days in the clubs of New York City and home life in the suburbs before ‘Jonny Woo’ his stage personae was even imagined. Often surreal, sometimes personal and always surprising; this is cabaret, meets performance art meets 3am in the club! Tales of The Elizabeth Line collide with memories from The Medway Towns. Sex, drugs and chiffon!
This is Jonny's first show in his new venue - postponed earlier in the year owing to that horrid sickness that went around - and with tech and lighting director Sam Hoppen, he is intending to make this show a feast for the eyes, making the most of The Divine's fabulous new lighting and sound installation.
Running time approx 1 hour without interval.
