Camp Trans Scotland is a weekend camping holiday held near Aberfeldy in Perthshire. It’s a chance for us to be surrounded by trans, non-binary and gender non-conforming people and to be affirmed in our gender journey. We want to strengthen our trans community by sharing meals, a bonfire, workshops and space under the stars in nature.
This is the first year of Camp Trans Scotland. We are learning as we go. We are a community-led, DIY, sober camp organised by trans, non-binary and gender non-conforming people. The camp is not put on for us, we’re all part of creating a space that aims to be safe, inclusive, nourishing and fun.
Where?
We've found a beautiful, remote and welcoming campsite near Aberfeldy in Perthshire. We will be releasing the exact location to attendees.
When?
1pm on 6th September - 3pm on 8th September, 2024
Cost?
Sliding scale: £25 - £40
The ticket price is to cover the costs of the camp (renting the campsite and a small budget for communal food). We are not making any money and everyone who is participating in putting this camp on - from the organising committee to the workshops givers and everything in between - is doing so as a volunteer.
If you are able to pay for a £40 ticket then you will be supporting someone to pay £25.
When you're deciding which ticket price you can afford please consider these guidelines:
Pay £40: I / we are comfortably able to meet all basic needs
Pay £30: I / we may stress about meeting some basic needs but still regularly achieve them
Pay £25: I / we frequently stress about meeting basic needs and don’t always achieve them
Access, transport, workshops/programme and other practical things?
We are figuring out these things at monthly meetings held in Category Is (sign up here to come help us organise). We'll be updating this page as our programme and other practical things gets sorted.
The site has both space for camping and beds in dormitories. Once the tickets have been sold, we will get in touch to find out whether you would prefer a bed in a dormitory or to camp. There are 30 beds and, except for disabled folk - who will be prioritised, the beds will be allocated on a first come first serve basis.
We are planning to reserve one indoor space as a low-sensory zone where folk will be asked to be as silent as possible.
Unfortunately the campsite does not allow dogs (except for assistance/guide dogs).
The campsite has a quietness policy between 11pm – 7am, but for sure we will have a party/cabaret on the Saturday night :)
