NO TO NATO. YES TO PEACE
On 4 April, 2024, NATO celebrates its 75th anniversary — a gruesome record of a war, violence, and colonialism.
The US drive for global domination is at the heart of NATO. In the last 75 years, NATO has expanded both its sphere of influence and the scope of its activity, destabilising international relationships as it does so. The war in Ukraine, which NATO expansion did much to provoke, has led to substantially increased NATO activity in Europe, alongside an increased presence in the Asia-Pacific region and across other parts of the world.
To mark the occasion, Lewisham and Greenwich CND and Lewisham Stop the War will hold a public meeting at the Deptford Town Hall on Thursday, 4 April with:
- Kate Hudson (General Secretary of CND)
- Sami Ramadani (Iraqi-born lecturer in sociology)
- Fiona Sim (Black Liberation Alliance)
- Andrew Murray (Stop the War Coalition)
We continue to work towards a different security order based on dialogue, cooperation, disarmament, common and human security. This is not only desirable, but necessary if we want to preserve the planet from threats and challenges posed by nuclear weapons, climate change and poverty.
