🎉 Join us for a vibrant weekend of celebration, connection, and exploration at our two-day event!
Here's a sneak peek at what's in store:
12 – 1 PM: Panel Discussion with Ashley Joiner & E-J Scott
Dive deep into the narrative of the Museum of Transology (MoT) with founder E-J Scott. Learn about the genesis of the museum and its profound impact on trans, non-binary, and intersex communities. Discover how MoT's community collecting project reshapes historical narratives in queer spaces.
12 - 6 PM: Bishopsgate Institute’s LGBTQIA+ Archives on display
Bishopsgate Institute Special Collections and Archives document the experiences of everyday people, and the extraordinary individuals and organisations who have strived for social, political and cultural change. They hold one of the most extensive collections on LGBTQIA+ history, politics and culture in the UK.
1 - 3 PM: Screen Printing Workshop with Fort
Fort is a multi-practise, non-profit, sober queer creative space in the heart of london containing a consent-led & trauma informed tattoo/massage studio, an art/print shop, a print workshop and a production house. We will tell our own stories and we will celebrate our own lives. On our own terms. By us, for us.
3 - 4 PM: Bishopsgate LGBTQIA+ Archives Institute’s Talk & Exhibition
Step into history with Bishopsgate Institute's extensive LGBTQIA+ archives. Immerse yourself in a collection of over 10,000 titles and 700 journals, spanning LGBTQ+ history, politics, and culture. Engage with an interactive display featuring archival objects, magazines, and cuttings on Trans History.
3-6 PM: Queering Nature Workshop with Riposte
Queering Nature explores the intersection of nature and queer identity through the medium of cyanotype prints.
Participants will be able to create unique compositions using various plants and condoms. By juxtaposing natural forms and man-made objects, we will subvert traditional cyanotype prints by inserting condoms, a metaphor for the radical insertion of queer ideology into heteronormativity.
1 - 6 PM: Museum of Transology collecting objects & Archiving
The Museum of Transology is collaborating with Trans Pride UK to build local trans collections for local trans communities right across the UK and Ireland. Wherever there’s a trans pride festival, there’ll be a transology collection.
If you’d like to have your voice saved in transcestry, all you need to do is turn up with your object to your local collection point. It’ll be a museum, a library or a queer bookshop.
We’ll give you a brown tag to write your story onto and show you how to archive your precious artefact in your own words.
4 - 6 PM: Film Screening by TGirlsonFilm
T Girls on Film will be screening 3 films including I don't know (1971, Spheeris) featuring a trans person and their lesbian lover, expect dykes on bikes & sapphic bathing. Jewell's Darl (1985, Wells) a teleplay exploring a relationship between a drag queen and a transexual, expect tea in bed, trans femme meltdowns in markets and the first trans mayor. Gender Troublemakers (1993) about two Transdykes relationships with gay men, shot on 8 millimeter home video camera and their last 200 bucks.
