“The poetry of a people comes from the deep recesses of the unconscious, the irrational and the collective body of our
ancestral memories.” – Margaret Walker
This workshop explores the body as a living and active archive. It will combine memory and improvised movement, and explore what can be created from the past-present self.
Using tracing movement methods and personal writing, we will collectiely explore what it means to create taking into consideration everyone’s journey.
This event is exclusively for people from the global majority. You do not have to have any prior movement or dance training to take part in this workshop. Please bring clothes you feel comfortable moving in and a water bottle.
Rudzani Moleya (She/They) is a multi/inter disciplinary performing artist, movement director and facilitator from South Africa.
Layered in their practice is how we define identity, in relation to self and others. Other, in relation to people, objects and nature. She uses movement, which is informed by water, somatics and improvisational movement.
Rudzani is currently exploring the body as a living archive and how movement can be used as a porthole to healing.
