Ariel Collier is a multifaceted artist, facilitator, and curator dedicated to empowering and promoting queer and trans artists of colour. Collier's artistic practice spans photography, crochet, digital art, and creative writing, exploring themes of safety, community and the hidden histories of liberation movements, all in efforts to build more inclusive spaces. By bringing together various aspects of home into the public sphere, Collier’s practice seeks to discover how art practice can be used to create spaces through the process of generating art itself.
Collier holds a BA in Visual Arts and Emerging Media Management from the University of Central Florida, a MA in History of Art and Archeology from SOAS, and is a PhD candidate in Visual Cultures at Goldsmiths. Their work has been featured in various publications and exhibitions such as PRIM Black, Studio Volitaire, CasilidArt, City Arts Factory, and more. In her work life she has championed many causes through roles as a project manager for various charities, most notably the Florida Prison Education Project where she tackled the School to Prison Pipeline with arts based learning, talks and exhibitions.
