WE ARE EVERY WOMAN
Sold Out
The We Are Every Woman Project presents an 8ft tall sculptural textile woman who is covered from head to toe in fabric pieces with individual hand sewn or drawn stories exposing the ongoing harassment and uninvited ‘attention’ women experience on a daily basis. The project was created to offer an opportunity for community groups to share their experiences across the country. The exhibition will be interactive by offering the public an opportunity to continue the dialogue around harassment and violence through the recreation of Monica Mayers The Clothesline Project.
Alice Brookes; practice lies at the intersection of activism and performance art as seen through a feminist, anti-capitalist lens. She is primarily concerned with gender by exploring the relentless need society has to commodify, control and silence women often through fear and shame. She has a strong focus on domesticity and the global pressure for female perfection, as seen through the patriarchal gaze. Alice has exhibited across the U.K. and internationally, she is an educator and an arts for wellbeing tutor.
