The Common Press are delighted to present the first in our new series, Queer Artists Talks!
Join former Common Press bookseller/barista Kenneth Lam for a wide-ranging discussion on the trials and successes of freelancing, storytelling through imagery, working with clients to achieve their vision, and expressing queer identity through photography.
About Kenneth Lam:
In between selling books and making incredible coffee, Kenneth’s work has appeared in The Financial Times, Nowness Asia, GQ, The Sunday Times, and the BBC.
Most recently, he opened his first solo exhibition, ‘A Seat At Our Table’ which was an invitation for audiences to explore the dishes, meals and memories of our own cultural identities. A contemporary take on classical still life, the photographs explored heritage, diaspora, and food as a common language between local residents in Redbridge.
Simultaneously, Kenneth has opened a restaurant in Berlin, Rice Service, which aims to craft experiences where everyone is welcome and to utilise food to build community and collectivism.
