Life-affirming knowledge, skills, and power are abundant within so many communities that face marginalisation, oppression, and other injustices. We want to cherish and share these wisdoms as part of our opening series of events and activities.
About the workshop series
Linked to our opening exhibition How to Survive the Apocalypse, this workshop series brings together a different group or voice for change each week. Knowledge is Survival will centre creative defiance and resistance tactics among communities facing challenges such as insecure housing, homelessness, and criminalisation of their way of life. Although the workshops won't exclusively focus on homelessness, they will address issues linked to homelessness and housing.
The workshops will bring together diverse groups to discuss and co-create pamphlets addressing critical questions and topics. Sessions will include inspiring talks, workshops, and pamphlet making. These pamphlets, inspired by initiatives in New York City, will distil workshop content into accessible formats for wider dissemination.
How to Survive the Apocalypse? We believe that many of the answers are already alive and in action within the communities that we welcome through the doors here at MoH. We want to both celebrate this creative and collective resistance as well as give people the opportunity to share these strategies of survival with their community and beyond.
