Bradford Queer Film Festival is proud to present the seminal docudrama ‘A Bigger Splash’ in stunning high definition in its 50th anniversary year.
The film which follows David Hockney and his inner circle between 1971-73 serves as both an intimate portrait of one of Britain's most beloved artists and a universal story about the end of a relationship. Starring icons of the time such as Celia Birtwell and Ossie Clark 'A Bigger Splash' is both an impressive record of its time and a personal document of Hockney's breakup with muse and partner Peter Schlesinger. The film also crucially documents the creation of one of Hockney's most famous works ‘Portrait of an Artist (Pool with Two Figures)’.
This special screening will take place at Cartwright Hall, the home of Hockney and is a do not miss event for all lovers of film, Hockney or both!
Attendees will have private access to the Hockney gallery before the screening and the event will include an introduction to the artist's work at the time of filming and related collections at Cartwright Hall.
