This intimate night will include playful short films, serious explorations of the area, and a chance to chat about Finsbury Park over a bowl of popcorn.
Curated by film maker and collaborator Benji Human, the night will draw together a rich array of film materials exploring the history of Finsbury Park and the surrounding area. This will be a chance to see the films and hear from their creators.
How it will work
This will be an intimate event in the museum's main downstairs space. Refreshments will be provided and the idea is to host screenings of short films followed by conversations. The films all touch on different themes and topics and highlight an area constantly changing and will include three main feature films (info below)
What to expect
At the centre of the film night are three short films. The main features will include the debut of Inside, Outside, an experiential and moving exploration of Finsbury Park created by Benji and made especially for A People’s History of Finsbury Park.
The event will also feature Shiri Shalmy's brilliant Finsbury Pie, which captures the living history of the park in 2007 through the eyes of staff, visitors and residents of the surrounding area.
Museum of Homelessness will also share a screening of Making A Museum of Homelessness in a Global Crisis by Joseph Wilson. Created late last year as the museum first relocated onsite, the film captures intimate portraits of the evolving building site and the people behind it.
