A People’s History of Finsbury Park – Book Launch
Sold Out
Join us for the launch of A People’s History of Finsbury Park with this special evening organised for the book's contributors. This powerful anthology explores myths and legends about the area, shares untold histories of squatting, personal accounts, and poetry from people who live or have lived in the area. Some come from people who have experienced homelessness and others don’t. Over a two-year period, MoH assembled this book from a broad range of people, painting a picture of an area that is every bit as complicated and compelling as you might expect.
The pages take us a little beyond the boundaries of Finsbury Park itself, in an attempt to present the texture and nuances of the area. Our focus is often on the late 20th century but at times we’ll go back further. The book explores people’s battles with authorities, homeless festivals that have come and gone, autonomous squatting communities, and much, much more.
