This month at Transmissions, the team behind HARDER: A Season of Lesbian Kink is back for a second June of hot and heavy curation for our beloved crowd of trans people of taste, and basement dwelling perverts.
Runner up of Bootblack Europe 2024, Butch Boots (Riposte, Pop-Up Dyke Bar) is becoming a fixture in the London scene, with its creator Astrid Johnson taking her bespoke bootblacking and leathercare services to some of the hottest events in town.
Lucky for us, she'll be in residence for four nights tracing the history of leather faggotry on screen, showcasing shorts by the iconic Kenneth Anger, William Friedkin's monumental classic Cruising, rare documentary High Shine, and more.
But before all that, we screen Tom of Finland (2017), a celebratory biopic of Touko Laaksonen, an artist whose legendary homoerotic illustrations bloomed amidst the oppression of the 1950s, capturing existing subcultures and influencing those that would follow.
Join us for a tribute to the life and work of a pioneering queer artist, whose subversion has proved immortal.
Everybody should see your drawings
