This year, 2024, Margate Pride is excited to host the parade again along the Margate seafront on Saturday, August 10th. However, as Margate Pride has grown, we’ve made some changes to how the day will run. The parade will now start on Walpole Bay Lawns and will take us along the seafront to Dreamland, departing at 12pm. Please start arriving from 11am.
We are focusing on making space for our community, community groups, and charities. As stated in our mission, ‘Margate Pride seeks to advance equity and justice for LGBTQIA+ people in all communities across Margate and beyond‘. We represent many intersections and want to give them a platform by inviting community groups and charities to the parade.
No floats - as part of our corporate free pride and environmental commitments, we are organising a no-float parade.
We also want to connect more to Pride’s roots as a protest march. While there are still inequalities in the world for LGBTQIA+ people, this is an opportunity to show solidarity.
How businesses can get involved
As we are only inviting community groups to walk in the parade there will be no corporate or local business present. We value your support and there are many ways to support Margate Pride. From donating to Margate Pride running a promo to support Pride, to volunteering staff for the many volunteer roles needed to make Pride the safe and celebratory festival it is.
We also ask businesses to sign up to our Friends of Dorothy scheme and to review our Code of Conduct and Values to demonstrate your commitment to the LGBTQIA+ community, making Margate and beyond a safer and better place.
