Free the People, Free the Land: Palestine and Climate Justice

Created in partnership with Tipping Point, this workshop aims to develop understandings of the climate crisis in relation to Israeli settler colonialism. We’ll explore the Palestinian liberation struggle through the lens of climate reparations, and to inspire collaborations and solidarity between people and organisations working across these two movements.

About Makan
Makan is a Palestinian led educational organisation dedicated to facilitating transformative learning experiences centred around Palestinian and intersectional issues through workshops, partnerships, and accessible online resources. Makan strives to provide a perspective that captures the history of the Palestinian struggle for liberation and the realities on the ground. Our aim is to support advocates as part of a community that is not only well-informed, interconnected, and empowered but also passionately committed to cultivating a future for Palestinians built on liberation and justice.

The Lineup

We strive to provide a physical environment that is accessible to all visitors. This includes:

Offering ground-level, step-free access to our spaces.
Offering elevator access to our project space located on the first floor.
Providing accessible restrooms for all genders on every floor of our venues.
Providing folding chairs or other forms of seating at every venue.
Welcoming assistive animal at our spaces and events.
Designating drop-off zones and parking spots within the Design District for visitors with disabilities on Phoenix Avenue which is 160 meters away.
Some in person and digital events can be offered with a BSL interpreter. Please contact us one week in advance of the event and we will try to accommodate this.
