Your favourite bi-monthly erotic reading night is BACK! ORAL returns for a hot, heavy and very, very shameful third round, with host Lux Pyre joined by a stunning line up of salacious-tongued performers, followed by sensual DJ set by DJ Dae.
Join us on Friday 12th July 7-9pm for a relaxing and stimulating night in our downstairs events space. The perfect foreplay for your night, or the main event itself. After a whole month of being prideful, it's time to succumb to a little shame 💦
About ORAL
ORAL is the smutty erotic reading night of your dreams, curated by Lux Pyre. ORAL aims to bring pleasure back into the act of reading, both in the form of reading aloud to an audience and in the subject matter. Too often is the erotic devalued within literature, censored by publishers, or a mere afterthought or spicy garnish. Too often is the erotic written by straight white cis men with painfully awful metaphors about orgasm. ORAL aims to platform the erotic with the nuance and expansiveness it deserves.
Reading for You
Jackson King
Jackson King is a cultural troublemaker, writer, and journalist. With appearances across the BBC, The Guardian, The iPaper, PinkNews and more. He’s also the founding editor of Irresistible Damage (a magazine for queer trans men) and author of TESTOSTEROTICA (a trans erotica newsletter).
Bart
Bart is an artist-filmmaker and curator based in London.
Working with films, photography and performance, his practice draws on the uncanny clarity found in processes of fetishisation, confabulation and meditation. In the same tangent, his approach to art-making stems from mistranslations across contexts, genres and cultures. Through these playful experimentations of reality and form, Bart is interested in exploring the political economy of desire and how that is embodied in contemporary societies.
Bart is currently a Kone Foundation grant awardee, and was previously a finalist for the Dazed x CIRCA award and a Tour de Moon film grant winner.
In his curatorial practice, he is co-curator of Kawaii Agency along with Juliusz Grabianski; and for the last two years, he has been a guest programmer for Queer East.
Etaf
Etaf is a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist based in London. Raised in Kuwait and with Palestinian and Lebanese roots, Etaf is proudly part of the Arabic diaspora and their music draws on their Arabic heritage. Known for creating a genre-defying sound, Etaf brings a bold authenticity and strength to their music. For ORAL, they will be reading intimate text-based work.
DJ Dae
Dj Dae will be bringing sexy, sensual Hip Hop, Rnb, Soul and Afro vibes to close out the evening.
