Come to the museum…or the Farr’s basement….with us for a very special edition of Category H, MUSEUM DAY: THE PHANTOM MUSEUM X HOUSE OF WAX (2005). Doors at 7pm for a 7:30 start, we will present the Quay Brothers short film followed by a misunderstood masterpiece that functions almost as a period piece. Together, we will journey through the ghosts of the past and the cement of the present.
THE PHANTOM MUSEUM is a stop motion animation exploration into Sir Henry Wellcome’s collection of medical curiosities. Let phantom hands guide you through diorama, anatomical models and the corridors of the collection. This totally unique, spooky, experience shows the insides of a museum in a way only the Quay brothers (Street of Crocodiles) can. The PHANTOM MUSEUM has a runtime of approx 12 minutes.
After a short break, we will begin 2005s HOUSE OF WAX. After encountering a strange local, one by one a group of teenagers find themselves separated and inside a strange, nearly abandoned, town. The only signs of life seem to come from a strange waxwork museum in the centre…..one which may contain more than they bargained for….straight from 2005 with a cast including Paris Hilton and Jared Padalecki, My Chemical Romance on the soundtrack and a digital sheen, HOUSE OF WAX is once seen, never forgotten.
MUSUEM DAY will operate differently from the usual Category H. The tickets are pay what you can, and the event will run from approx 7pm-10pm. Please note that Farr’s is not a wheelchair accessible venue. Consult the IMDB parents guide for trigger warnings for each film, and message us on Instagram with any questions about the contents of the films or event itself.
