If you're feeling in need of a physical and mental ‘re-set’, this sauna session is for you. Whether you're a sauna regular or this is your first time, all TNBI adults are invited to enjoy the benefits of an authentic wood-fired sauna. The Stanmer Sauna Garden is a peaceful woodland clearing, with a sauna, cold plunge pool, private changing area and places to sit and relax in the fresh air. Sauna Master Bella, a passionate trans ally, will be on hand to look after the sauna and offering some traditional sauna rituals to support wellbeing. A member of Clare Project staff will also be present.
Tickets are £5 per person for the 2-hour session (3-5pm on Sunday 22nd September). This is a reduced rate from the usual £15 thanks to the support of Stanmer Sauna Garden and subsidy from The Clare Project. If you are able to pay more, a donation to The Clare Project is welcome, and can be made below.
To get an idea of what to expect, you can see videos and photos on instagram @stanmersaunagarden.
What to bring: Something to wear in the sauna (e.g. swimwear/beachwear) and a change of clothes for afterwards. Two towels (one small one to sit on in the sauna and one to dry yourself with), and slip-on footwear for walking around the sauna site (flip flops can be borrowed if needed). You're welcome to bring food and drink (water is provided).
How to find Stanmer Sauna Garden: Walk past the One Garden, following the track round to the right, through the gates and up the hill. The entrance is through the trees on the left, where you'll see a trans flag and sauna sign. The ‘What Three Words’ location is canny.fakes.dress.
By Car: enter Stanmer Park from the A27 and drive to the end. The closest car park is the Patchway Car Park, just by One Garden. Here's a link to car parking in Stanmer. Follow the signs to Stanmer Sauna Garden - it's about a 5 minute walk.
By Bus: take the Breeze 78 Bus from The Old Steine in central Brighton. Here's a link to the bus schedule. Or you can take the very regular number 25, which stops at the entrance to the park, but there will be a 20 minute walk.
By Beryl bike: the nearest parking bay is by the entrance to One garden.
By Train: alight at Falmer Station, and walk to the end of Stanmer Park (30 minutes).
