Queer Open Decks is a free support and networking event for any LGBTQ+ DJs working within London/Online or those looking to learn basic DJ skills. Started as a small meet up at the London LGBTQ+ Centre, we are now a growing community of genre-fluid LGBTQ+ DJs meeting monthly. We are returning in September at Dalston Superstore for an good old knees up for our 2nd Anniversary Birthday Party!
Equipment details: We are able to accommodate both Vinyl, CDJs & Digital DJS (using either USB or laptops - with or without controllers).
Sign up details: During the night, we have 6x 20 minute slots from 6.30-8.30pm that you can sign up in advance using this link, followed by 5 x 30 minute slots from 8.30-11.00pm that you can sign up for on the night.
The venue will be in the upstairs bar of Dalston Superstore. Full access details are available on Dalston Superstore's website.
Guidelines:
- Please note that this is primarily a social/community-oriented event rather than a club night - the space is there for those wishing to learn to DJ in a supportive environment alongside more experienced DJs. We welcome complete beginners - just come as you are and bring your interest! Friends of DJs are very much welcome.
- As we’re now upstairs at the superstore if you’re signing up for an earlier slot - please note that we still need to match the vibe of the bar! Keep it chill! If you start getting your club head on, don’t be surprised if we ask you to slow it or turn it down!
- As mentioned above, we are primarily a queer social group. We’ d encourage you to avoid arriving for your set and leaving straight afterwards. Mingle with the other DJs, make friends, and hype up the other DJs for their sets!
- We are a queer space. This means fostering a space that is inclusive and respectful of all backgrounds, particularly those marginalised from mainstream gay spaces. We are anti-racist, trans positive and care about making the space accessible to all.
