We're a relaxed, small film group for LGBTQIA+ women over 40. We watch films about LGBTQIA+ women, or films we just really want to see!
This month we are screening The Watermelon Woman (1996)
Written, directed by and starring Cheryl Dunye, The Watermelon Woman is a romantic comedy-drama film about an aspiring black lesbian filmmaker working in a video store in Philadelphia. She is consumed by a film project researching an obscure 1940s black actress.
The museum is closed at 6pm so we have to enter through the side gate on Kingsland road next to Graeae Theatre Company. There will be a pink sign stuck to the gate so you know it's the right one.
The venue is on the ground floor and there's a couple of steps into the room but there is an accessible entrance with a ramp further down the path if needed. There is an accessible bathroom and an amazing kitchen we have use of. We often bring snacks to share with everyone.
Email us at womfilmclub@gmail.com if you have any questions or film suggestions for the future!
