Tickets will be sold on the door
Join QUEST9ja and London Renters Union for a joyous evening of poetry and shaking nyash with DJ Kayodeine on decks. Starting and closing with an open mic and open decks, we hope to showcase the wide range of incredible talent in our communities - come through if you’re feeling brave enough! All proceeds raised through ticket and drinks sales will go towards a survival fund for Trans Nigerians.
The Queer Union for Economic and Social Transformation (QUEST9ja) is a revolutionary queer collective in Nigeria dedicated to queer liberation. We are an abolitionist, anti-capitalist, anti-imperialist, and pan-Africanist group of radical queer Nigerians who are fighting for economic and social justice. London Renters Union is a member-led union campaigning to transform the housing system and win better quality homes that benefit people, not private profit.
The socio-economic climate in Nigeria is dire, with the average person unable to afford food, utilities, education or healthcare. This is especially true for Queer and Trans Nigerians who experience brutal queerphobic violence and repression. All of this is a direct result of the lasting impacts of British colonial rule and something those of us here in the imperial core benefit from everyday. Living in the UK means being afforded certain comforts or “rights” only possible because of the super exploitation of the African continent. Both Western and Eastern powers view Africa as a pool of cheap labour and land prime for resource extraction.
We have a tiered ticket system to encourage white people and non-Black people of colour to perform personal reparations. Open your wallet for trans queer Nigerians! We encourage everyone to give as much as they are able to in addition to the ticket.
Hope to see you all there.
With love and solidarity,

COVID-19 Policy
COVID-19 is an airborne virus primarily transmitted through respiratory droplets and aerosols from breathing, talking, coughing, and sneezing. Aerosols, like smoke, can linger in the air and travel longer distances. COVID-19 is a vascular disease, impacting blood vessels, and can cause cancer, neurological issues, and Long COVID, which may persist for weeks, months, or years. Long COVID can lead to severe chronic fatigue syndrome, significantly limiting daily activities. Considering the current state of healthcare, avoiding initial COVID infection is the most effective strategy to protect against this.
To protect against COVID, wearing a well-fitted respirator (mask) such as a KN95 or FFP3 mask is the most effective way of reducing transmission. FFP2 masks will be provided, as well as surgical masks. We recommend you take additional mitigations like CPC mouthwash and nasal sprays.
Please take a lateral flow covid test beforehand, covid tests and masks will be available at the event. Masking indoors is mandatory, except for those with health exemptions. If you have health exemptions, we have surgical masks on hand. An outdoor patio is available, but we urge everyone to prioritise collective safety.
