This 4–part workshop series invites participants to engage with creative writing as a method for navigating with/in grief. Across our 4 sessions participants will try new techniques, explore their feelings creatively, and create a collaborative zine made up of participants’ work.
Creative writing exercises will explore embodied experiences, the crossing of the threshold, and the cyclical nature of grief. Each session will blend creative writing and open discussion to create a space where we can explore our emotions, process grief and build creative writing skills.
This series is open to LGBTQ+ people with any experience of grief or loss. Prior experience of creative writing is not necessary, and absolute beginners are strongly encouraged to join.
If you are unsure if your experience makes you suitable for this series then please get in touch.
Run in collaboration between QUEERCIRCLE and the London Queer Death Cafe.
About the facilitators:
Kat Benedict (they/them) is a queer writer and facilitator working in presentational and propositional forms. Their practice is led by questions of embodiment, memory, grief, literacies and erotics: through the body, the page, and the archive. Their work comes together in lectures, convenings, printed matter, and objects that propose extended modes of reading and recording.
Marsh Ana (they/them) is a writer and tabletop games maker with a background in support work. They run the London Queer Death Cafe, a space for LGBTQ+ people to share and explore grief, loss and mourning.
