BOOK TALK AND TEACH-IN ON BUILDING AN ANTI-IMPERIALIST, SOCIALIST FEMINIST POLITICS TODAY
How can we build a revolutionary, anti-imperialist, socialist feminist politics on the left today?
Join rs21 and authors of the book She Who Struggles: Revolutionary Women Who Shaped the World (Pluto Press, 2023) at Antiuniversity Festival 2024 for a teach-in and group discussion on anti-imperialism, feminism, Palestine and international solidarity.
In this event, we will explore these themes through the radical political tradition of leftwing women who engaged in anticolonial, anti-imperial, and socialist revolutionary struggles in Asia, Africa and the Americas in the twentieth century.
Through the hidden histories of revolutionary women’s lives and activities, we will see the connected story about collective struggles that women took part in from different corners of the world - rooted in a politics of solidarity and internationalism.
We will learn about revolutionary women who mobilised liberation movements, forged networks of solidarity, and presented and acted on radical visions of the world – a world which continues to be struggled for.
These women were committed to the dismantling of the imperialist system and capitalist mode of social relations that oppressed not only women but the majority of humanity. We’ll introduce you to what has been termed the “unhappy marriage of Marxism and feminism” - and together discuss how we can and must continue the tradition of an anti-imperialist, internationalist, socialist feminist politics.
