Box Hill to Leatherhead walk – Saturday 23rd November 2024

Come for a walk up Box Hill. This will be a more challenging walk as there are a few steep hills but the views are worth it!

Distance: 12.5 km / 7.7 miles
Difficulty rating: Improver*
Walking time: 4 hours
Pace: Not too fast, with chances to stop and enjoy the views.
Elevation: 39m – 192m (total ascent 320m with some steep hills).
Accessibility: This walk will be up short, steep hills on muddy, unpaved, uneven footpaths with tree roots and some gates/stiles.
Kit needed: Sturdy shoes you don't mind getting wet and muddy (trainers with good grip, walking shoes/boots etc.), waterproof jacket and waterproof trousers (optional but recommended), a small rucksack to carry your food (lunch and snacks), water (at least 1 litre), personal medication, warm clothing and layers (jumper, hat, gloves etc.), something to sit on the ground (plastic bag, sit mat etc.). Please don’t wear jeans if you can help it – they will get wet and will rub, making you very uncomfortable and very cold – wear leggings/walking trousers/sweatpants.

* Improver walks are for people who have experience of half-day walks and want to try a longer day walk that involves a few more hills. The pace may vary but I’ll make sure everyone is comfortable. The idea is to have a chilled time connecting with nature and enjoying the journey together - not ‘smashing the hike' as fast as possible. Snack breaks and pauses to marvel at nature are encouraged!

The walk will take place in any weather, including rain (except in the case of a severe weather warning), so please be prepared to be outside for hours in all weather (see kit list).
No refunds - resale might be possible if there's a waiting list - feel free to give your ticket to a mate - just let me know so I can expect them.
